CEO & Systems Administrator
Afcon Communications, Inc.
Port Charlotte, Florida
July 1997 – October 2000
Co-Owner. Management of a 5000 plus user Internet Service
Provider (ISP) Network. Webmaster. Supervision of 5 staff members.

Afcon.net was my own company created in my garage as a startup ISP. From 700 dial up customers dialing into my garage, I turned the company into a 3000 customer base company and moved it to a retail commercial location with 192 dial-up modems and 6 T-1s to the internet including a computer store. The company also provided website design and hosting, business network and point-of-sale systems. With the expansion of AOL, MSN, and others into the small towns, the company could not compete with national services, so as a result, I sold the customer base and web hosting services to Skyline.

During my tenure with my official title as System Administrator, I started as a one man operation and developed a full service business supervising 6 employees providing the following services:
Customer Service Account Management
Office Management – Accounting/Billing - Payroll
Technical Support & Software Installation
Web Design and Hosting Services
PC Sales and Service
Online Services – e-Commerce
Supervised the staff of:

Customer Service Representative

Technical Support Specialist

PC Repair Technician

Webmaster

Office/Accounts Manager

Sales Manager

System Administrator - Self

The company also started an online coupon service, click-save-go.com, and several online newspapers.
